My Story

Danny Becher is a German musician, sound artist, and educator known for his work in overtone chanting, sound healing, and cymatic art.

Here’s a deeper look into his life and work:

🎶 Background and Musical Journey

  • Born in 1953 in Braunschweig, Germany, Danny Becher has spent decades exploring the spiritual and scientific dimensions of sound.
  • In 1973, he moved to India, where he lived for nine years in Auroville and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. There, he studied Hindustani vocal music, Hindi, and tabla under respected teachers.
  • His time in India also included work at an Ayurvedic Institute and a multicultural center, where he began integrating yoga, pranayama, and martial arts into his musical practice.

🌟 Artistic and Educational Work

  • Since 1981, Danny Becher has been active in Europe, especially the Netherlands, offering concerts, workshops, and seminars on sound awareness and healing through music.
  • He developed a unique style of overtone chanting combined with breathing techniques from disciplines like Hatha Yoga and Kyokushinkai Karate.
  • His performances often feature Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, kalimbas, and crystal bowls, and he frequently incorporates mantras, including the Gayatri Mantra, into his meditative concerts.

🔬 Cymatics and Visual Sound Art

  • Becher is deeply involved in cymatics, the study of visible sound vibrations. He creates visual representations of sound using vibrating plates and water surfaces, capturing the patterns through photography and sculpture.
  • His film project Message of Sound showcases these cymatic experiments and explores the healing and transformative power of sound.
